Blending Recorded Track with Orchestration, Live Recording
Have you ever had a fantasy world that you escape to with the drop of a needle? The Narrator of The Drowsy Chaperone takes the audience on a journey through the world that brings him happiness. As the sound designer for this production, I assisted in making this journey possible. In this live recording of the opening night overture, we experience anticipation when the needle falls onto the record and static fills the room. The overture enters and the journey begins. I recorded the orchestra playing the first few pages of the overture to source the sound to the record player. The music transforms and fills the room as the orchestra crossfades with the recorded track, and so we begin our journey through The Drowsy Chaperone.
